Control The Symptoms Of An Excessive Head Sweating Problem

Head sweating can be a complicated problem especially when it goes untreated. Many people who suffer from excessive head sweating simply try to ignore it but this is not the right way to go about it, there may be a much more serious problem going on and the excessive head sweating is purely a symptom of the underlying condition. Not all excessive head sweating can be attributed to a particular medical condition though so it is important to consult with your doctor about the situation.

A hormonal imbalance is one condition that often brings with it excessive sweating. Malfunctioning of your Endocrine System causes our body to act differently than it would if your Endocrine System were functioning in a normal manner. Other conditions such as diabetes, hypertension and also pregnancy may cause an increase in the amount a person may perspire.

Head sweating is not just an inconvenient condition that makes being in a social environment more uncomfortable and embarrassing, it also makes wearing make up more difficult and can also cause some people to experience a dry and often flaky scalp which is at times itchy.

In the majority of excessive head sweating cases it is found that this head sweating is caused by an overactive sympathetic nerve system. The sympathetic nerve system is a subsystem of the autonomic nervous system (ANS for short) which is also known as the visceral nervous system. The autonomic nervous system itself is a part of the peripheral nervous system which is ultimately a control system. The sympathetic nervous system promotes the body’s' primal response whether to fight or flee. This system also has many other functions such as controlling and diverting blood flow to and from certain areas of the human body.

Head sweating when in excessive amounts is a form of the condition known as hyperhidrosis. This condition can exist in just one area such as the armpits or multiple areas such as the feet, head, hands etc. There are two categories of hyperhidrosis. These categories are primary hyperhidrosis and secondary hyperhidrosis. Primary hyperhidrosis is primarily a sweating problem where as secondary hyperhidrosis is the symptom of another underlying problem, before the sweating can be managed the underlying condition must be treated if you are suffering this secondary form.

Many people who experience unwelcome head sweating will try many different creams, solutions and other products in the hopes that one of them will work. There’s a very good chance that after some trial and error you will likely be successful. When all else fails you may want to consider surgery but the surgeries available all carry risks and possible side effects and they are also not all guaranteed to work. Surgery really should only be a last resort.

The important thing is to remain positive when it comes to head sweating. Your doctor can provide you with a wealth of information of your problem and is a great resource which really should be used. Don’t let head sweating control your life, take control of it and your life.
